Streaming Platform Engineer (Kafka/ Flink)

We are seeking an experienced Streaming Platform Engineer to join large-scale enterprise Kafka / Confluent platform powering 478+ AsyncAPIs and 750+ production topics in a modern, event-driven ecosystem. You will work in a shared responsibility model, contributing to both central platform capabilities and domain-driven topic ownership alongside Producers and Consumers. The main goal is to enhance the platform by introducing: content-based filtering, payload projection and topic joins (extending beyond current header-only filtering).

• Only candidates with citizenship in the European Union and residence in Poland

Project scope:

• Design and implement stream processing solutions using Apache Flink and Flink SQL

• Develop and maintain filtering, projection, and join logic on streaming data

• Build and operate workloads using the Flink Kubernetes Operator

• Implement and maintain Kafka-based integrations, including producers, consumers, and Kafka Connect pipelines

• Design and evolve Avro schemas, ensuring compliance with schema evolution rules

• Integrate solutions with Confluent Schema Registry

• Develop and support Flink SQL rule framework and validation tooling

• Contribute to XML-to-Avro transformation mechanisms (including Kafka Connect SMTs)

• Collaborate with platform and domain teams in a shared ownership model

• Apply AI-assisted (agentic engineering) approaches across design, implementation, and delivery lifecycle

• Troubleshoot and optimize deployments in Kubernetes environments

• Support CI/CD and GitOps practices for rule deployment and configuration management

Competence demands:

• 6-8 years of experience

• Apache Flink (Flink SQL, stateful stream processing)

• Apache Kafka / Confluent (producers, consumers, Kafka Connect)

• Avro & Schema Registry (schema evolution, design)

• Kubernetes (deployments, troubleshooting)

• Flink Kubernetes Operator

• Strong understanding of event-driven architectures

• Very good English skills

Nice to have:

• AsyncAPI (v3)

• Kafka Connect custom SMT development (Java)

• XML / legacy data transformations

• GitOps / CI-CD (YAML, PR-based workflows)
